There’s no denying how intense the temperature gets during the summer months here in the Valley. Even though it’s a dry heat, it can be difficult to be motivated to go outside and enjoy the outdoors. However, no matter how high the temperatures get, here are just a few activities in Glendale that can help beat the heat and stay cool!
Hurricane Harbor Phoenix
One of the largest amusement parks in the state of Arizona, Hurricane Harbor Phoenix features nearly 30 rides spread across its 35 acres. Top rides include Tornado, a funnel-shaped raft ride; Bahama Blaster, a side-by-side race slide; and Big Kahuna, a family-friendly raft ride that drops 40 feet. The park also has a large wave pool and a lazy river. Younger children can play at Soak'em Playground, Splash Island and Splashwater Beach. Although general admission is $85, ticket prices can dip as low as $25, depending on offers and promotions.

Foothills Aquatics Center
Located at 5600 W. Union Hills Dr, Foothills Aquatics Center includes 2 giant slides, a kiddie slide, a zero-depth entry leisure pool with spray features, water playground, a lazy river, diving well with 2 diving boards and 6 lap lanes, plus a snack bar. Summer activities include seasonal youth private and group swim lessons, year-round adult private lessons and public recreation swimming. (If you want to keep cool while having fun out of the water, the Foothills Aquatics Center is located next to the Foothills Recreation Center.) Admission to the aquatics center is $5 for adult residents ($2.50 for kids). Add a dollar to the admission cost for non-residents.
Rose Lane Aquatics Center
The Rose Lane Aquatics Center also has a large, zero depth entry leisure pool with spray features, splash pad, giant slide, kiddie slide and a big diving pool. Just like at the Foothills Aquatics Center, children under the age of 11 must be accompanied and actively supervised by a parent or guardian who is at least 18 years old. Inflatables—including rafts, inner tubes and water wings—are not permitted. Admission to the Rose Lane Aquatics Center is the same as the Foothills Aquatics Center.

Splash Pads
Water slides and swimming pools aren't your only option for cooling off. Glendale has five splash pads located at Glendale Heroes Park, O'Neil Park, Sunset Palms Park, Sycamore Grove and Greenway Granada Park. These spots are ideal for families or those who just want a quick cool off before heading back into the heat.
So, the next time the temperatures top triple digits, don't plant yourself in front of the A/C. Cool off with one of Glendale's water attractions.
