Downtown Peoria, with its newly-renovated Osuna Park and historic buildings, has begun to hold more and more family-friendly events. Buckeye has its own Main Street Coalition, dedicated to to preserving and revitalizing the historic district of downtown Buckeye.
Of course we couldn't have a post about adaptive reuse without mentioning the amazing work in the downtown Glendale community. From a tea house in a 100+ year old home, to an ice cream shop from a converted guest house/garage, downtown's Catlin Court and Old Town districts are full of rich pasts and innovative futures. Even the city departments work within the reuse mindset, turning a bank vault into a conference room!
Everyone can help preserve the past in their own way. If you want to start small, can we suggest a keepsake?
