We have always been big fans of historic preservation in Glendale, and we are happy to see that we are not the only ones! Not only around Arizona are there beautiful, innovative and creative adaptive reuses going on (check out Local First's article about the importance of historic preservation and adaptive reuse), but right here in the West Valley. We are constantly on the lookout to support new endeavors to nurture communities around historic preservation. downtown-peoria-and-buckeyeDowntown Peoria, with its newly-renovated Osuna Park and historic buildings, has begun to hold more and more family-friendly events. Buckeye has its own Main Street Coalition, dedicated to to preserving and revitalizing the historic district of downtown Buckeye. spicery-civic-center-Collage Of course we couldn't have a post about adaptive reuse without mentioning the amazing work in the downtown Glendale community. From a tea house in a 100+ year old home, to an ice cream shop from a converted guest house/garage, downtown's Catlin Court and Old Town districts are full of rich pasts and innovative futures. Even the city departments work within the reuse mindset, turning a bank vault into a conference room! Everyone can help preserve the past in their own way.
