Every January, more than 80,000 people flock to Historic Downtown Glendale for Glendale Glitter & Glow, an incredible spectacle of glowing hot air balloons surrounded by the 1.6 million LED holiday lights still decorating the historic downtown area. Practice your “ooh’s” and “aah’s” for the mass glows when the pilots fire up the balloons all at once. The illumination creates a panoply of vibrant, glowing colors and twinkling lights.
This family-friendly festival also features music from several bands, and delicious food and beverages served up by local vendors.
Parking and admission are free, and complimentary shuttles are available from Glendale Community College at 59th and Olive Avenues. Shuttles will pick up from the northeast parking lots of the college, accessing from 59th Avenue and Vogel. The last shuttle will leave downtown Glendale at 10:15 p.m. and there will also be street parking in and around downtown, but these spots fill up quickly. You also have the option of paying for preferred parking in the two downtown garages, both of which are accessible from 59th Avenue and Glenn Drive.
